This paper describes and revises the didactic proposal put forward by the enlightened pedagogue Joseph Jacotot at the beginnings of the 19c. In order to do so, however, it departs from Jacques Rancière¿s 1987 rendition of such pedagogy, found in his book The Ignorant Schoolmaster.
